Refund for iPad subscription

Apple only allows customers to manage subscriptions, not publishers. If you wish to cancel, please log into the iTunes & App Store option in your iPad’s Settings app, touch your Apple ID > View Apple ID, enter your password and then select Manage under Subscriptions. You will see Stars and Stripes Tablet Edition and an option for "Auto-Renewal” with an **On / Off** switch. Touch this switch to turn off the Auto-Renewal. You will not be charged again. (Apple also provides instructions for this on their website: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039)

Because of Apple’s rules regarding subscriptions, they control the relationship with customers, not publishers like Stars and Stripes. This means if you did not intend to renew your subscription and wish a refund, you will need to contact Apple and request a refund from them. They do not offer us any control or access for these kind of issues. For this reason, we are planning to launch a new subscription system that will give Stripes full control over digital subscriptions; Apple’s limitations are, as you are experiencing, very frustrating for both customers and publishers.

If you don’t own a computer and don’t have a copy of iTunes to use, you can go to this link on Apple’s website, log in with your Apple ID and request a refund: http://reportaproblem.apple.com/

1. Open Apple’s official ‘Report a Problem’ website.

2. Sign in with the Apple ID you used to purchase the app.

3. Now from the ‘Report a Problem’ page click on the ‘Apps’ section. There you will find all of the apps you have downloaded from the App Store including the paid and the free ones. Look for the app you want to get refund for. Needless to mention but it should be a paid app only if you are going for a refund. If you have a general complain then this page will be useful too.

4. Once you have found the app click on the ‘Report a Problem’ button and from the drop down menu select the reason of demanding a refund. You can describe the problem you are facing with the app such as it is not compatible with your iOS device, it does not work as advertised or it is too buggy to be used normally among other reasons.

5. After filling out the form you can hit the ‘Submit’ button.

This does not guarantee you a refund; that decision is up to Apple (again, we have no control or say in this matter). It may take a few days or weeks to get a response from Apple.
